    Default 1976 4X4 Loadstar Rescue/RV

Well, this is my Rescue/RV. A 1976 4 wheel drive Loadstar with an Ambulance box on it. It was a Fire Search and Rescue truck for Old Forge Fire Dept in NY. It has a 345 V8 gas motor, T-19 Trans, Divorced Rockwell Transfer Case, Dana 70 front and a Huge IH rear end. The rims are split and have tubes in them. The gearing in the axles I believe are 6.30 some than. My top speed is 55 but about 58 ALL vibrations go away. I hope at that speed the valves aren't floating (I need an RPM gauge!)

    In her Prime...

    Story goes...
My GF was browsing the internet for Loadstars, somehow came across a craigslist ad for this Ambulance Loadstar. Turns out it this Relic somehow made it's way to reside in Minnesota. We live in So CA. For a great price of $3500 I talked to the owner about flying out and driving the Red Beast home. So we did.

So here are some stats of the drive home:
Started Driving -7/5 Fri @1pm Harmony, MN
Ended Driving -7/8 Sun @12am Montclair, CA
    Total Miles Driven -2,051 miles
Total Days on Road -3 days
    Total Gallons Burned -283 gallons
Size of Gas Tank -21 gallons (topped off)
    Gas Station Stops -19 stops
Tourist Stops -4 stops (Badlands, MtRushmore, Wall Drug, Prairie Town and a quick drive through Vegas)
Name of Rig -Harmony (from the small town we found her in) (i wasnt going to argue with the woman nor was I gonna allow it to be called "the little engine that could" Harmony worked)

A couple Pics of that drive:

Anyhow, the trip was long but we got her home. Since then I have done some work on the inside to make her "Camp" worthy. I plan on doing a full blown RV conversion in the summer time (hopefully).

Here is a before and after on the inside:

Added some Insulation for the time being:

And some make shift blow up bed platforms:

We have camped in it as is several times this year and she gets around very nicely.

Started to build a Darkar inspired light rack for those dark nights coming in to camp:
