Project Postman

NEWS FLASH:. The Postal was way to nice to butcher. I am selling it. I now have a 1962 Scout 80 that will be the shell for this project. SEE PROJECT X for where the parts went!!!

Project Postman is a buildup of a 1970 postal Scout 800. This Scout will be for use by the owner John and will be tailored to most events over 100 miles away due to the offroad accessories and gas mileage issues.  Yup I am going Postal ;-)

This right hand drive Scout started out as a 2WD #2 condition rig from Boise, Idaho. It had a 196 cid motor with a Borg Warner automatic. It will be converted to 4WD and a 392, T-19 wide, Dana 300 transfer case combination will be installed. We are looking at the idea of mating two transmissions together as a possible alternative to modifying the transfer case. The running gear at this time is slated to be a 4.88 Detroit locker equipped Dana 70 rear end, and a 4.88 ARB equipped Dana 60. The suspension will be a custom setup using various different components, both used and fabricated. The rear flex will be attained by a cantilever shackle setup on a spring over and a pivoting spring perch. The idea of a 1/4 elliptical rear setup has not been discounted however.  The front is planned to be a coil spring setup on with a 4 link to hold it all in place. The tires needed for the use intended by this stout rig will be in the 37-39.5 range. TSL Boggers or Super Swampers look to be the top two candidates for now. The brakes will be 4 wheel disks. The seating will be provided by Corbeau in their Targa RS line.

This vehicle will look to place in the top ten at many events including Top Truck Challenge, Warns rock Crawling series, and the Washington Rock Crawler association's yearly event.

Please feel free to contact John about this buildup, whether to suggest ideas, products, or sponsorship funding.
