Binders
is proud to introduce a snorkel setup for IH Scouts and Travelalls!!
What are the benefits of a
Snorkel setup you may ask?
Well adding a snorkel to your intake system improves air
ingestion in four ways. The first is that by collecting air from outside above
the windshield you get cooler air. A Cooler air source is denser and transfers
into more horsepower for your engine. The second benefit is that air taken from
the hot engine compartment is full of all the dust kicked up by the tires, and
contaminants expelled by your motor. In some situations the air outside is 50%
cleaner than the air in the engine compartment. The third benefit is insuring
your vehicles engine is protected from ingesting water in deep water crossings.
The forth and final benefit is from steam. When hitting deep holes and puddles
with some speed you spray water all over your hot motor, causing your engine to
bog down and sometimes die. This will at times make the difference between
making it up that hill with the water hole at the bottom, or dying in the
middle. And let me tell you standing in a water hole with the hood up trying to
dry and restart your motor is no fun.

The first two are pics where I
know the driver would have liked the snorkel setup. I know for a fact on the
second one because it's me!!
The third pic is of a Safari Snorkel mounted on a Landcruiser 80 series. The
forth is a Toyota Landcruiser crossing a spot in the river to continue his
trip.
